Who we are

This website, makfai.org, is run by the Mak Fai Kung Fu Dragon & Lion Dance Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit at 606 Maynard Ave S, Ste 107, Seattle, WA 98104. Questions about this policy go to hello@makfai.org.

What we collect

You can browse this site without an account, and we don’t run advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, described below. Beyond that, we only receive information you send us yourself:

• Messages and booking requests. The contact form doesn’t send anything to us directly. It opens your own email app with your message filled in, so we receive exactly what you choose to email, usually your name, email address, and message.
• Pledges. “Email us your pledge” works the same way. We receive what you write in that email.
• Donations. Card and digital-wallet gifts are processed by Stripe on Stripe’s own secure pages. We never see or store your card number. Stripe shares details such as your name, email, and the amount with us so we can send a receipt. Zelle gifts go through your bank, and checks come to us by mail.

How we use it

We use the information you provide to respond to you, arrange performances and classes, process donations, maintain required nonprofit and Sponsorship Membership records, and send newsletters, updates, and event information. You may unsubscribe from emails at any time. We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only with service providers that host this site, measure how it’s used, or process your payments, or when required by law.

Site analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how people use this site, so we can improve it. It collects:

• the pages you view and how you move between them
• your device type, browser, and screen size
• the website or link that brought you here
• your approximate location, to the city or region

Google Analytics uses your IP address only to estimate that location, and doesn’t store it. We don’t use this data to identify you, we don’t combine it with anything you send us, and we don’t use it for advertising. Google processes it under its own privacy policy.

Other services this site uses

• Netlify. Our web host. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and basic request details, such as your browser type, to deliver the pages.
• YouTube. When you play one of our films, it plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player, which may store data in your browser.
• Stripe, Instagram, Facebook, and our school websites. Links to these open their own sites, which follow their own privacy policies.

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics’ two, named _ga and _ga_KV8CDTCXB6. They tell a returning visit apart from a new one. We don’t use cookies for advertising.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we aren’t required to keep for tax and nonprofit records. Email hello@makfai.org and we’ll take care of it.

You can also stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits, using your browser’s tracking protection or Google’s opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.

Young students

This site isn’t designed to collect information from children. If you’re a parent or guardian and think your child has sent us personal information, let us know and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
